Full Moon Wo Shagoshite
She's so sweet you'll get cavities

// Synopsis: Mitsuki is a precocious 12 year old girl who wants nothing more than to be a singer in order to somehow be reunited with her true love off in America. But sadly she has throat cancer that prevents her from singing and will die in 1 year. A pair of spirits who will claim her soul decide to help make her dream come true by transforming her into a 16 year old. In this form she is cancer free and is able to enter and win a local competition and thus launch her teen idol career. As she becomes more successful and gets closer to her ultimate goal, the fated one year is quickly looming.

// Review: It felt like this anime was targeting an audience about 18 months older than those who love Pokemon. For a good portion of this series each episode follows the same formula: contrived problem, problem solved. All disasters are solved through her pure heart and goodness. At least that's what the anime wants you to believe. Actually she seems to succeed despite being a naive baka. What's frustrating isn't that she chooses to forgive those who have wronged her and thus win them over, but rather she doesn't even know when she is being betrayed or attacked even when it's open aggression.

/ Since this is about Mitsuki's singing career there are of course songs. But for the first 30 episodes she only releases one track and they manage to cram it in no less than 3 times per episode; and it's not even that good. What's also annoying is how she incessantly pines away about her lost boyfriend Echi. I'm not kidding, that's his name. The entire boyfriend premise is ridiculous. They were together at an orphanage before being seperated and apparently they fell in love when he was 16 and she was 10. I guess Japanese men start off as perverts at a tender age.

/ The good points about this title is that you see an evolution in all of the characters. As the series progresses they reveal more about each character's past, which serve as interesting plot twists. The last dozen episodes build up to a pretty satisfying conclusion and they even release 3 new songs.

// Wrap up: Many people won't make it to the last 12 episodes. I almost didn't. There are so many annoying things about Mitsuki that I found myself muttering unflattering things at my monitor often. But the series ends strong, which redeems the first 75% of the series.
