Kiki's
Delivery Service (Majo no Takkyuubin)
Bringing innocence and adventure
to your door
// Synopsis: Kiki is a young witch
who upon reaching her 13th birthday, must leave home to find her place
in the world. Along with her cynical, outspoken black cat, Jiji, Kiki
flies off to a new town where she becomes the resident witch, using
her broom to create a delivery service for a local bakery. Facing the
ups and downs of growing up, Kiki learns valuable lessons about friendship,
trust, disappointment, and reward while discovering her own unique talents.
Rescuing her friend Tombo from disaster, Kiki learns that everyone --
even a young witch -- has to search and work hard to find happiness
and fulfillment.
// Review: On the surface this may
seem like a kiddie cartoon, but it doesn't pander to children the way
nauseating Barney does. This is just a well executed light hearted adventure
of a young girl in a big city; a sort of Mary Tyler Moore. The plot
isn't necessarily riveting, but it's entertaining to watch Kiki make
friends and go through a season of doubt and self-discovery. Even though
the magic part is fantasy, her struggle is real and something that on
different levels we can connect with. This is a fun adventure that I
wouldn't be ashamed to enjoy with others.
// Wrap up: From start to finish
a good story. Kiki experiences enough major and minor delimas to keep
you engaged. In this world that's been created everything is believable.
This is the perfect family anime.
